The trees planted in the early 20th century were dying, cars were driving on the oval, there was nowhere to sit and community groups had hopes of adding new amenities including playgrounds and fitness facilities, BBQ areas, picnic shelters, tennis courts and places for cultural celebrations. The Bungendore Park is where the village plays, swims, celebrates and rests.

After extensive consultation with community groups and research into the heritage of the park, a master plan was created. This provides a plan of action for tree replacement and co-ordination of projects, which is being implemented as funds become available.
